Oh, where did it all begin? Sometime around the age of 10, my parents & I were on our summer vacation. We had gone to visit the home sites of Laura Ingalls Wilder (author of the “Little House on the Prairie” books), and I was handed the camera with the comment that I should take the photos, as my pictures were always the best. I suspect that was when we had either a 110 or a Kodak Disc camera. A few years later, when I started babysitting for the neighborhood children, I used my babysitting money to buy my very first 35mm point & shoot camera. I was already hooked, but that sealed the deal for me. I got my first SLR camera, a Minolta X-370 that I still use from time to time, in 1987 when I was a senior in high school.

Over the years the equipment that I use has changed, but my passion and desire to take beautiful photographs has never waivered. My husband even joked when we planned our honeymoon that he knew it had to be somewhere scenic, as it was going to have to be a photographic opportunity! (We went to London & Paris, thanks to lots of airline miles.)

In the fall of 2006, I sold the weblog hosting company that I had owned for many years. The time was right for me to switch gears and dive into photography full-time officially, even though it has been a core part of who I am for so long. It is the dream come true, the ability to do what you love for your job. Matter of fact, it doesn’t really seem like a job at all - not in the traditional sense!

Over the past few years, I discovered two passions - wedding photography and baby photography. Interesting, as the are so very different. Weddings are busy, busy times, and I love capturing the fleeting moments that might otherwise go without notice. The glances that will be treasured in the years ahead, the laughter and fun of the day. Photographing newborns on the other hand seems very closely tied to my love of photographing flowers. (I can’t pass up a beautiful flower, no matter how hard I try.) They are calm, soft, sweet and beautiful. Both are times of new beginnings, fresh starts, and joy. It is hard to put into words how much I love taking those photographs, so I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

When I come out from behind the camera, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Mike and my son, Jason. (He is in high school now - maybe that is why I love the baby photography?) We have a neurotic Bichon Frise, Chloe, and two cats, Mona and Murphy. All of our animals came from rescue organizations, which we strongly support. There are so many good pets out there that need a great home! We love to travel - exploring new places is always a great adventure! In my free time, I also like to knit and enjoy hanging out with the local knitters at the Houston Stitch & Bitch and can often be found knitting on Fridays at my local yarn store, Twisted Yarns.
